Designed for creative individuals who wish to qualify for the UK’s recognised standard in vocational graphic design. Core subjects are:
Adobe Photoshop CS3
Level 1: work with tools and features to edit images using Adobe® Photoshop® CS3. Save images in the web, print, and PDF formats. Manage assets by using the various tools available in Adobe Bridge
Level 2: advanced tools and features available in Adobe® Photoshop® CS3 to enhance your ability to create accurate masks and image effects, retouch images, automate repetitive tasks and create special effects. Use the video tools available in Adobe Photoshop to edit video files.
Adobe Illustrator CS3
Level 1: create logos, advertisements, and other illustrations from first principles using lines, curves and geometric shapes.
Level 2: create complex, robust illustrations that go beyond those you created using the tools you acquired at Level 1. Also learn how to prepare Illustrator files for printed media and for the web without errors or colour mismatches.
Adobe InDesign CS3
Level 1: work with some of the tools and features in InDesign to familiarize yourself with print layout and design to create eye-catching documents.
Level 2: learn how to manage long complex documents using advanced InDesign techniques to enhance the look and functionality.
Adobe Acrobat 8.0
Level 1: use Adobe Acrobat 8.0 to make your information more portable, accessible, and useful to meet the needs of your target audience.
Elective
Either Adobe Acrobat Level 2: use Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional to convert technical documents to PDF files, enhance and control PDF content accessibility, customize PDF documents for interactive use online, and prepare PDFs for commercial printing.
Or Adobe Photoshop CS3 Web Production: use Photoshop to create and optimize images for the web. You will prepare web page components, learn how to arrange them aesthetically, and add interactivity. You will then learn how to upload your interactive web pages and test their functionality in different Internet browsers.
OCR Level 3 Certification e-Image Production
Create artwork using all the above packages that will be put forward to OCR for external assessment. Success will result in a Level 3 certificate.
