Creative Web Design for PC

Designed for creative individuals who wish to qualify for the UK’s recognised standard in vocational graphic design. Core subjects are:

HTML 4.01: Web Authoring

Level 1: create basic functional pages using the Hypertext Mark-up Language (HTML).

Level 2: build on the concepts you learned in HTML 4.01: Web Authoring, Level 1, including use of HTML tables to lay out the contents of your Web pages, creating different kinds of links between Web pages, create form, add dynamic and multimedia content and apply Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) formatting to multiple documents.

Adobe Dreamweaver CS4

Level 1: design, build, and upload a website using this industry standard software package.

Level 2: use the advanced features of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 to design and develop professional-looking websites, including the coding features of Dreamweaver, style sheets, navigation interface design, and XML.

Adobe Photoshop CS4

Level 1: use the standard features of this industry-standard image editing software application to develop images, work with multiple layers, save images in different formats, and manage your assets in Adobe Bridge.

Level 2: learn how to enhance the images you have created at Level 1 and develop and edit videos using the advanced tools and features available in Photoshop CS3.

Adobe Flash CS4

Level 1: learn how to enhance your web pages or web page components to create simple animations using pre-built components, that will display correctly in browsers on both PC and Mac computing platforms.

Level 2: create rich Internet applications with Adobe Flash CS3 using ActionScript. The site you create will pull data from external sources, so it will respond to user choices based on the information in those files. You will also manage forms, perform calculations, and tailor the interface using ActionScript programming.

Elective

The Elective module allows you to customise your Diploma in order to prepare for the Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) qualification. You can choose EITHER Illustrator OR Acrobat.

Adobe Illustrator CS4:

A sophisticated drawing package which equips you with the skills to create complex and attractive designs with typographical effects from first principles.

Adobe Acrobat 9.0: Level 1

Allows you to make your information more portable, accessible, and useful to meet the needs of your target audience.

OCR Level 3 - Web authoring

As the UK’s largest awarding body, OCR sets the standard for vocational skills certification. At the end of your programme you will, with the support of your supervisor, create a fully functional 10 page website using the tools you have acquired in the various software packages.

This website will be uploaded to the World Wide Web and put forward to OCR for external assessment. Success will result in the award of OCR Level 3 Diploma for IT Users (CLAiT Advanced) in Website Authoring.
